The Crude Oil Refinery-owners Association of Nigeria (CORAN) successfully hosted the CORAN Summit 2025, a landmark gathering of industry experts, regulators, legislators, professionals, and key stakeholders in Nigeria’s refining and energy sectors.

With the theme “Refining – Key to Energy Security in Africa,” the summit provided an important platform for dialogue on the pivotal role of refining in achieving energy security, driving economic growth, and positioning Africa as a competitive player in the global energy landscape.


High-Power Stakeholders Roundtable Dialogue Breakout Session

A major highlight of the summit was the High-Power Stakeholders Roundtable Dialogue Breakout Session, themed:
“Towards Sustainable Crude Support & Investment Growth in Nigeria’s Refinery Sector.”

This high-level session convened regulators, legislators, and major industry stakeholders to engage in deep, solution-oriented discussions on strengthening crude oil supply mechanisms, improving investment frameworks, and ensuring long-term sustainability within Nigeria’s refinery ecosystem.


Key Focus Areas

Throughout the two-day event, deliberations centered around several strategic areas, including:

  1. Creating an Enabling Regulatory Framework – Establishing policies that foster private sector investment and enhance operational efficiency in the refining industry.

  2. Promoting Modular Refineries – Expanding Nigeria’s refining base to unlock crude oil potential and reduce reliance on imported petroleum products.

  3. Positioning Nigeria’s Refined Petroleum Market for Global Competitiveness – Leveraging technology, innovation, and best practices to make Nigerian refineries globally competitive.

Looking Ahead

Outcomes from the summit are expected to guide policy recommendations, industry reforms, and investment strategies that will strengthen Nigeria’s refining capacity and enhance energy security across Africa.
